Team India will be in action again on 1 March 2023 when they will lock horns with the Aussies in Indore. They have now an unassailable lead of 2-0 in this four-match Test series. But, the form of KL Rahul has been a concern for the team and fans. In three innings, he has scored 38 runs so far.

Former cricketer Venkatesh Prasad has also slammed the Indian Cricket Board for selecting Rahul over others despite his poor run of form. After the second Test in Delhi, he even shared some stats of KL Rahul’s Test career while comparing with other batters like Mayank Agarwal, and Shubman Gill.

However, some fans were hoping that he might find it tough to get a place in the squad for the last two Tests. But, selectors showed faith in him and he got selected for the squad. Meanwhile, they stripped him of the vice-captaincy post of team India. Some fans were left shocked after seeing him retain his place in the squad. However, after the Delhi Test, both Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid said that they will back Rahul despite such a poor run of form.

Rohit Sharma said: “Of late there has been lot of talk about his (KL Rahul) batting. For us as the management, we look at the potential of any individual, not just KL, and players with potential will get extended run. Batting at Lord’s on a damp wicket, it was one of the best hundreds I have seen, Centurion also, so he has potential and we are backing him."

Then, Rahul Dravid said: “KL Rahul has been one of our most successful overseas openers. He’s got hundred in South Africa, England and we’ll continue to back him. I believe he has the quality and class to come out of this phase." But, now according to a recent report in the Indian Express, Shubman Gill might replace Rahul in the final playing XI of the third Test against the Aussies.
