Preparations for the 2026 Women's Premier League (WPL) have already begun at the BCCI. For their first major auction, all five teams are preparing. All five teams are permitted to keep up to five players from their existing rosters, and they have until November 5 to make the announcement, according to ESPNcricinfo. Between November 25 and 29, the WPL will hold its inaugural mega auction.

Prior to the commencement of the auction, each WPL team may keep up to five players. These may consist of two uncapped Indian players, up to two foreign players, and a maximum of three seasoned Indian players. At least one Indian player must be uncapped if a team retains five players.
The revised regulations permit teams to retain up to five players, including a maximum of three Indian players with caps, two foreign players, and two Indian players without caps. In order to help the team retain its key players and ensure that domestic players have adequate opportunities, the primary goal is to keep things competitive.
Franchises can now employ the right-to-match (RTM) option during the auction for the first time. A team can re-sign a player who played for them the season before, thanks to RTM.
The announcement states that the auction's total value is INR 15 crore, with the following slabs: INR 3.5 crore for Player 1, INR 2.5 crore for Player 2, INR 1.75 crore for Player 3, and INR 1 crore for Player 4. The cost of a fifth player will be INR 50 lakh. A club will not be allowed to use any Right to Match (RTM) cards, and INR 9.25 crore would be subtracted from its auction proceeds if it keeps five players.
The dates for other actions leading up to the auction have already been disclosed by the WPL. The deadline for submitting the player retention list is November 5. By November 7, the teams are required to present their lists of players for the auction. November 18 is the deadline for player registration. Additionally, the BCCI will reveal the players on the mega auction list on November 20.
