The next edition of the World Test Championship 2025-2027 will kick off after the current cycle’s finals at the Lords Cricket Ground in June.
After an emphatic series win against India, Australia has made it to the final for the second time. Regarding Team India, a series loss has resulted in heartbreak for the players and fans.
However, the management will look forward to the 2025-2027 WTC cycle that begins just days after the final.
Team India’s campaign took a downturn when they were whitewashed by the Kiwis at home. Within a couple of months, a 3-1 series loss has meant that India will not be a part of the WTC final for the first time since its inception. Hence, they need to win the crucial upcoming Test series in England.
India will kick off their campaign with a tour of England
The Indian cricket team, who couldn’t make it to Lords, will start their campaign for the 2025-2027 cycle in June 2025. The team is scheduled to visit England for a five-match test series from June 20 to August 4, 2025.
The first Test will be held at Headingley in Leeds on June 20 and the fifth Test will be at the iconic Kennington Oval in London on July 31st.
Regarding other away series, India will face New Zealand for the first time in nearly five years. Team India will also tour Sri Lanka, as the tourists will face some tough spin challenges in the island nation.
Team India will host Australia in early 2027 for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, aiming to reclaim the trophy they lost for the first time in nearly ten years. The West Indies will be looking to challenge India during their visit in October for a two-Test series.
Apart from that, the 2023-2025 finalist South Africa will visit India for a Two-match Test series in November this year as well. With concerns regarding the team’s morale and atmosphere in the dressing room, it will be interesting to see how the side fares in the high-voltage Test series in England.
