Meanwhile, they have announced Luke Wright as their skipper for this edition of the tournament. Wright is one of the retained players for the franchise and was in blistering form for the hosts last time around. He had amassed 208 runs at an amazing strike-rate of 174.48 in only six innings and also smacked 14 fours and 12 sixes.

He will be looking forward to leading the team from the front this year and taking them all the way to the trophy. Luke Wright will be assisted by former UAE skipper Rohan Mustafa in the vice-captain’s role. He was also retained by the Team Abu Dhabi for this edition and has played as many as 16 games in this format so far.

Mustafa has also played for Kerala Knights and Rajputs previously and he will add a lot of firepower to the team. Most of the players of the Abu Dhabi side landed in the city well in advance before the start of the tournament and started practicing from January 26 post the three-day quarantine period. Ahead of their opening game against Deccan Gladiators, they are full strength and will be raring to go having spent a good time in the nets.
