Three games took place on the second day of the Super League stage in the ongoing Abu Dhabi T10 League. In the first game of the day, Qalandars and Maratha Arabians were up against each other before Delhi Bulls locked horns against Pune Devils in the second game. In the third and last game of the day, Northern Warriors and Deccan Gladiators fought it out against each other. Here is a roundup of day 6 of the Abu Dhabi T10 League:
Qalandars vs Maratha Arabians:
In the first game of the day, Qalandars beat Maratha Arabians by four wickets to continue their winning streak in the competition. Asked to bat first, Maratha Arabians could only score 101 for 5 in the allotted 10 overs with Mohammad Hafeez’s 44 being the highest score. For the Qalandars, Sohail Tanvir made the difference with the ball, taking 3 for 22 off his 2 overs. With the bat, the Qalandars did not put up a convincing show either but did just enough to chase down the total in 8.1 overs. Sharjeel Khan top-scored with 28 before Ben Dunk’s unbeaten knock of 26 took the Qalandars over the line.
Maratha Arabians 101 for 5 (Mohammad Hafeez 44, Shoaib Malik 23, Sohail Tanvir 3-22) lost to Qalandars 101 for 6 (Sharjeel Khan 28, Ben Dunk 26*; Yamin Ahmadzai 2-21) by four wickets.
Delhi Bulls vs Pune Devils:
In the second game of the day, Delhi Bulls thrashed Pune Devils by eight wickets to register their fourth win of the tournament while condemning the latter to their fourth defeat. Asked to bat first, Devils could only manage 58 for 7 in 10 overs as Ali Khan ran riot. The pacer picked up 3 wickets on five balls without conceding a run while Amad Butt also picked up two wickets to restrict the Devils to a paltry total. In reply, the Bulls chased down the total in just 4.4 overs while losing two wickets.
Pune Devils 57 for 7 (Kennar Lewis 15; Ali Khan 0-3 ) lost to Delhi Bulls 58 for 2 (Rahmanullah Gurbaz 26; Munis Ansari 1-18) by eight wickets.
Northern Warriors vs Deccan Gladiators:
In the third game of the day, Northern Warriors beat Deccan Gladiators by three runs in a high-scoring thriller. Invited to bat first, the Warriors posted a mammoth total of 143 for 4. Rovman Powell starred with the bat, scoring an unbeaten 51 while skipper Nicholas Pooran (29) and opener Waseem Muhammad (26) also played crucial knocks. In reply, the Gladiators started well and had the chase in complete control at the end of 4 overs when the score was 61 for 1. However, Fabien Allen derailed their chase in the sixth over by picking up both the settled batsmen- Azam Khan and Mohammad Shahzad – in the space of three balls. With the likes of Kieron Pollard and Cameron Delport failing with the bat too, Gladiators eventually ended on 140 for 6.
Northern Warriors 143 for 4 (Rovman Powell 51*, Nicholas Pooran 29; Zahoor Khan 1-13) beat Deccan Gladiators 140 for 6 ( Azam Khan 54, Anwar Ali 35*; Fabian Allen 2-8) by three runs.
