Indian pacer T Natarajan recently visited teammate Washington Sundar and was seen playing with his pet dog ‘Gabba’. Sundar played a crucial role in India’s stunning victory in Brisbane and decided to name his pet after the iconic stadium. Washington Sundar took to Twitter to share a clip of Natarajan playing his dog.

Both Sundar and Natarajan had fairytale moments in Australia. Selected as net bowlers, both went on to play Test match for India after a string of injuries to main bowlers. The duo played pivotal roles as India stunned Australia in Gabba to claim an emphatic series win over the Aussies. Sundar helped India to recover from a collapse and played a match-defining knock of 62 while Natarajan went on to take three wickets in the match.

Sundar was selected for India’s tour of England but he picked up a finger injury in the warm-up game and was sent back to India. Natarajan too is recovering from a knee injury. He has entered the rehabilitation phase and has started training indoors.

Washington Sundar is in India’s scheme of things for the T20 World Cup. However, the finger injury is most likely to keep him at bay from the showpiece event. The off-spinner is also likely to undergo surgery to mend his finger.

Earlier, former India cricketer Saba Karim called for the inclusion of Sundar in the T20 World Cup squad. Karim felt Sundar's all-round abilities could come in handy in UAE. However, his selection will only depend on how quickly he recovers from the injury. The World Cup is still a couple of months away and the all-rounder will be hoping that his finger heals by the time India announce their squad for the marquee event.
