However, the star batter has now revealed that he was not in the best shape before the match started. In a BCCI video, Axar Patel questioned Suryakumar about why he was the topic of conversation in the physio room and why he woke up at three in the morning before the match. Suryakumar disclosed that he had become ill as a result of weather changes and extensive travel. He did, however, mention his desire to do well in the series decider.

"The weather changed last night and there has been a change in travelling. Because of all this, I had a stomach ache, then got a fever as well, but at the same time I knew that it was a decider game," Suryakumar said.

He went on to say that he was determined to do whatever it took to find a cure for his sickness. "So I told my doctor and physio that if there is a World Cup final how will I react? I can't sit out with illness. So you do whatever it takes, give me any medicine or injection but prepare me for the evening match. And once I'm on the ground in this (India) jersey then there is a different emotion for me." he added.

As for the series, the men in blue made a brilliant comeback after losing the first match in Mohali. They performed well in the following two matches after failing to defend 208 runs in the first game. The Rohit Sharma-led side will benefit greatly from this win going into the T20 World Cup in 2022.
