According to a report published on The Indian Express, Suryakumar has requested MCA for time off to prepare for the upcoming five-match South Africa T20I series at home, which will start on Tuesday, December 9.

Moreover, the report also mentioned that the MCA has also permitted the Mumbai all-rounder Shivam Dube to prepare for the forthcoming T20I series against South Africa, which will be an ideal platform for the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 in India and Sri Lanka.

“Yadav has informed MCA that he won’t be available and we have accepted his request as we feel that with the T20 World Cup around the corner he should concentrate more on it. He has informed us that he will be available for Syed Mushtaq Ali and Vijay Hazare Trophy. As far as Dube is concerned, there is an upcoming T20I series against South Africa so he can prepare for the same. The selectors have picked Tanush Kotian and Mohit Awasthi for Mumbai’s next Ranji Trophy game,” a source in the MCA confirmed.

It’s important to note that Suryakumar Yadav’s last Ranji Trophy appearance came against Vidarbha in the Ranji Trophy 2024-25 semi-final. He couldn’t take part in the initial four rounds of the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2025-26 season due to his international commitments.

The upcoming round will be the last of the first leg of the Ranji Trophy games, as the second leg is scheduled to be played from January 22. For the unversed, the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (T20) will commence from November 26, while the Vijay Hazare Trophy will kick off from December 24.

The five-match T20I series against South Africa will commence on Tuesday, December 9 and conclude on Friday, December 19.
