If reports are to be believed, Suryakumar Yadav can be added to the India squad for the two-match Test series against New Zealand. The series gets underway on November 25 in Kanpur. Yadav was part of the India squad for the England tour but didn't get a chance to make his Test debut.

He looked in good rhythm in the recently concluded T20I series which might have boosted his case for a place in the test team. Yadav is one of the highest rated players in India and BCCI want to groom him for the future. Also, if Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara fail to perform in the upcoming series, BCCI might want to give them a break which will leave a vacant spot in the top order which Yadav can grab.

“Suryakumar will be making a comeback to the Test team. He will join India’s Test team in Kanpur from Kolkata,” a source told Mid-Day on Monday.

Yadav has a stellar record in the domestic circuit. He has featured in 77 FC matches, scoring 5,356 runs at an average of 44, including 14 hundreds and 26 fifties in an 11-year long career. He recently made his debut for India in limited-overs cricket and impressed one and all with his batting prowess. He has so far played 11 T20Is for India and has scored 244 runs at an average of 34.85. He also played a 50-over series against Sri Lanka and emerged as the Player of the Series.
