Hasan Ali last played for Pakistan in January 2023. Speaking of Sarfaraz Khan, he also last played for the Men in Green in that same Test series in January. Meanwhile, in a recent interview with a local media channel, the current team director of the Pakistan cricket team, Mickey Arther said that he has talked with Sarfaraz but no talks over the 50-Over World Cup took place.

He said: “Look Sarfraz and I have a great relationship. I've touched base with him but as you know, there are so many people in the shake-up for the 50-over World Cup. So we haven't spoken about that explicitly at the time, but I have caught up with Sarfaraz because him and I go back a long way. We've got a really good relationship.”

Even in a press conference earlier to that month in Karachi, a reporter asked Sarfaraz whether he wishes to play in the upcoming World Cup or not. The reporter asked: "Do you wish to play World Cup this year?" So, the former Pakistan skipper replied: "As far as I am playing, there is always a wish to play; I want to play cricket."
