Stats: Teams with highest win percentage in Champions Trophy

ICC Champions Trophy, often referred to as the “Mini World Cup” is an ICC tournament which has been played between the top eight ranked One Day teams. The trophy is returning after a gap of eight years with the last edition being hosted in 2017 in England.

The Champions Trophy will be hosted by Pakistan, starting from February 19, and going till March 9. It will be co-hosted by UAE as the event is happening in a hybrid manner with India’s matches being scheduled in Dubai.

This edition is going to be the ninth edition of the tournament with India and Australia sharing the title for the most number of trophies, two each. 

India would be entering the tournament as hot favourites keeping in mind their recent performances in the ICC tournament, especially Cricket World Cup 2023. Australia too were favorites before they lost their entire pace attack to injuries and with the recent series loss to Sri Lanka, they don’t look too effective.

When we take a look at the teams who have been the most dominant in the history of the Champions Trophy, India comes out at the top. India has had the most wins with 18 wins from 28 matches with 3 matches having no result with a 62% win percentage.

England comes next in the list as they have won 14 matches from their 25 and with a win percentage of 56% while West Indies occupies the next spot with a 54% win percentage having won 13 out of 24 games and one match was tied.

The fourth place in the list with a 52% win percentage, having won 14 out of their 27 games and two matches ending in no result, is Sri Lanka. A name that everyone suspected to be at the top is present in the fifth position, Australia. They have won 12 of their 24 matches with a 50% win percentage and four of their matches ended in no result.
