Star player set to join Gujarat team for Indian T20 League 2022

Priyank Panchal is the current captain of Gujarat’s state team. He has performed brilliantly throughout the season and has been rewarded accordingly. Panchal was selected as the captain of India A squad for their tour to South Africa against the South Africa A team. Later, he was included in the Indian national squad as a replacement for Rohit Sharma, who picked up an injury ahead of the Test series.

According to report in Sports Tiger, Priyank is set to join the Gujarat franchise of the Indian T20 League as a backup player. Gujarat will be led by Hardik Pandya this season. The team will begin their campaign of the 15th edition against Lucknow at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on the 28th of March, 2022.

The 31-year-old in a recent chat with Sportskeeda revealed that he earned a lot of experience from his time in the dressing room with Indian stars like Jasprit Bumrah, Virat Kohli and KL Rahul. Despite not getting a chance in the final Xi, Panchal was apparently happy with the time he spent alongside the superstars of Indian cricket.

Gujarat, on the other hand, is reportedly adding some big names to their extended squad. They already have former purple cap winner Mohit Sharma and pace bowler Barinder Sran on board as net bowlers. The bench strength of the team looks very strong with these additions.

In other news, the skipper of the franchise Hardik Pandya has cleared the fitness test at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. He will probably be seen bowling from this season in the Indian T20 League. With the 20-20 World Cup due later this year, the Indian team management will keep a close eye on Hardik’s fitness and progress as a player.
