Former Indian head coach and commentator Ravi Shastri has criticized the Indian pacers Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Anshul Kamboj, and Shardul Thakur for bowling poor lines and lengths, leaking a lot of runs on Day 2 of the Manchester Test.

Furthermore, Shastri termed the Indian bowlers “rubbish”, adding that the Indian pacers will hear a lot of harsh words from the Indian head coach Gautam Gambhir and bowling coach Morne Morkel after stumps on Day 2.

In reply to India's 358 runs in the first innings, England openers Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett stitched a 166-run opening stand with the former scoring 84 runs in 113 balls and the latter hitting 94 runs in 100 balls.

While Anshul Kamboj gave away runs at an economy of 4.8, Siraj leaked at an economy of 5.8. The bowling all-rounder Shardul Thakur also gave away runs at an economy of seven, with Bumrah having an economical spell of 2.8.

“Just not consistent enough. They will look back at this session and see, especially some of the boundary deliveries, that it's pretty ordinary stuff, at times rubbish,” Shastri said on-air.

Furthermore, Shastri reckoned that the Indian head coach would be using some local language to give an earful to all the Indian bowlers for missing their lines and lengths completely on a decent bowling wicket.

“Absolutely, maybe in better terms. Maybe get the local lingo in there, which can sound harsher. Some harsh words will be exchanged by the coach and the bowling coach. That's how he puts it across. It's different. If he can't, then you step in and say exactly the same,” he added.

Notably, after decent knocks from Shardul Thakur, Washington Sundar, and Rishabh Pant, India posted 358 runs in the first innings. England captain Ben Stokes was exceptional with his five-wicket haul.
