Rohit Sharma-led Indian team locked horns against South Africa in the 30th match of the ongoing 20-20 World Cup 2022. Indian skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and decided to bat first on the bouncy turf of the Perth Stadium. Speaking of the match, Suryakumar Yadav was the only batter for India who played a struggled and well-fought knock of 68 runs off just 40 balls with six boundaries and four maximums to his name. Other than him, none of the Indian batters could cross the mark of 20 runs. Lungi Ngidi, who replaced Tabraiz Shamsi in the playing XI against India, impressed everyone with his stunning bowling performance with four wickets by conceding 29 runs in his quota of four overs.
While chasing the target, the Proteas easily touched the finishing line after a bit of struggle in the beginning. David Miller and Aiden Markram’s knocks of 59 and 52 runs helped their team to chase down the target in 19.4 overs to win the match by five wickets.
It is also the first loss for the Indian team in the tournament following their two successive win in against Pakistan and Netherlands respectively.
