'So much for battling racism in cricket' - Indian fans unhappy after facing racism in Edgbaston during England vs India fifth Test

On the fourth day of the ongoing Test between England and India, the visiting team's supporters faced racial abuse. Several fans on Twitter have claimed that they faced racial abuse from unruly English crowds. They further claimed that they reported to the stewards of the venue, but they didn't take any action. Instead, the fans were asked to sit down in their respective seats.

After the incident, the Warwickshire County Cricket Club issued an official statement saying that they were gutted by the reports. The statement added that they have seen the initial tweets and are speaking to the stewards at the venue to know what exactly went down. The club has assured that once the investigation is done, firm action will be taken.

"I'm gutted by these reports as we're working hard to make Edgbaston a safe, welcoming environment for all.

"Having seen the initial tweets, I've spoken personally to the gentleman who raised them and we're now speaking to the stewards in this area to establish what happened. Nobody should be subject to any form of abuse at Edgbaston. So, once we've got all the facts, we will make sure this issue is addressed swiftly," Warwickshire County Cricket Club's chief executive Stuart Cain said.
On the other hand, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) issued a statement saying that they are concerned about the racial abuse reports. The statement added that the board is in contact with the club who will investigate. The board has said that there is no place for racism and the club has been working hard to create a safe and inclusive working environment.

"We are very concerned to hear reports of racist abuse at today's Test match. We are in contact with colleagues at Edgbaston who will investigate.
"There is no place for racism in cricket. Edgbaston has been working hard to create a safe and inclusive working environment," The ECB added in a statement.
Meanwhile, the fans are not satisfied with the way stewards dealt with the issue.
