Indian top-order batter Shubman Gill, who has been India’s top candidate to emerge as the Test captain, is all set to play for India A ahead of the England tour, scheduled to start on June 20 at Headingley, Leeds.
On Friday, May 16, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) picked the India A squad for the two tour games against England, scheduled to start on May 30 at the St Lawrence Ground, Canterbury.
It’s important to note that Gill will join the India A squad only before the second game of the series alongside his Gujarat Titans teammate Sai Sudharsan, who is also part of the squad for the A tour.
Notably, the India A squad will be led by Bengal batter Abhimanyu Easwaran, who was part of India's squad in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. Easwaran will have Dhruv Jurel as his deputy, who will also be the wicket-keeping choice in the squad.
