The incident happened in the first ODI where Shreyas Iyer, who was fielding at covers, attempted a dive to stop the ball. However, he landed awkwardly and ended up with a dislocated shoulder which ruled him out of the Indian Premier League. Iyer will need at least 6-8 weeks to completely recover from the injury.
Rishabh Pant to lead Delhi Capitals
In the absence of Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant will lead Delhi Capitals in the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League. Talking about Pantβs captaincy, Iyer said that Pant is the best man to lead Delhi. He further wished him luck for the upcoming season.
"When I sustained the shoulder injury, and the Delhi Capitals needed a leader for this edition of the IPL, I had no doubt that Rishabh Pant would be the best man for the job. He has all my good wishes to make this an amazing season with our absolutely incredible team. I'm going to miss the team tremendously and will be cheering for them throughout."
Iyer was also set to play for Lancashire in the Royal London One Day Cup but the injury has put his participation in the County tournament in doubt. The club took to Twitter and wished Shreyas Iyer a speedy recovery.
