'Show others what u have done in county' - Fans rejoice after the selection of Umesh Yadav as a Replacement for Mohammed Shami

In a recent and big piece of news for the Indian cricket fans, senior pacer Umesh Yadav is set to replace the veteran Mohammed Shami in the upcoming three-match T20I series against Australia commencing on the 20^th of September with the first match in Mohali. Mohammed Shami has been ruled out of the tournament as he has tested positive for the Covid-19 virus.

Earlier, Shami was also in the headlines after his exclusion from the Indian squad for the 20-20 World Cup 2022. Indian selectors went on to prefer senior all-rounder and legendary off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin over Shami. There are also clouds of uncertainties about the fact that Shami would get to play against South Africa in the three-match T20I series after the conclusion of the Australia series.

Indian cricket fans have also reacted to this replacement, they went on praise Umesh Yadav and hoped for him to make a strong comeback in the T20Is. Notably, Umesh will appear in the T20I after a long wait of 43 months which counts to almost three and a half years.

The 34-year-old speedster played his last T20I against Australia three and a half years back in the year 2019 on the 24^th of February. It was the first of the two-match T20I series between India and Australia. Umesh Yadav couldn’t scalp any wicket in the match and conceded 35 runs in his quota of four overs.

Although, he has impressed everyone with his recent stellar performances in the English County Championship. The Nagpur-born speedster has scalped 10 wickets in five appearances in the championship.

Now, everyone is waiting and hoping for Umesh Yadav to perform well and deliver up to the expectations of team India and the Indian cricket fans as well. Speaking of his T20I career, Umesh has played seven matches and scalped nine wickets with an economy rate of 8.76.
