India and Bangladesh faced off in the second Test that kicked off on December 22 and it was the KL Rahul-led team who tasted the victory after a hard fight from Ravichandran Ashwin and Shreyas Iyer on Day 4, post getting restricted to 74/7, chasing a target of 145. The ace spinner, in praise of Rahul Dravid, said that there is still value for Dravidball in the era of Bazball.

India tasted more defeats than victories in 2022 and in addition to the bilateral defeats, the Indian team failed to make a cut to the summit clash of the Asia Cup 2022 and the 20-20 World Cup 2022. Notably, prior to the start of the Test series against the Bangla Tigers, Rahul claimed that the Indian team would look to play aggressive cricket but the team played with an exact opposite mindset.

India to get new selectors in 2023 ahead of 50-over World Cup

The Indian team will get new selectors as the Indian cricket board sacked the Chetan Sharma-led selection committee post the defeat against England in the 20-20 World Cup 2022. The team faced defeat in the ODI series against the Bangladeshi team prior to the start of the Tests and fans opined that Dravid as a coach is making things worse for team India.

Notably, Dravid’s stint as the captain prior to the arrival of MS Dhoni is considered to be the lowest phase of his career and in the history of Indian cricket as well. To add more, it was under his leadership that India lost the 50-over World Cup in 2007, making it one of the worst-ever campaigns for the Men in Blue in the history of multinational tournaments.

India would hope to bounce back in 2023 and with the 50-over World Cup set to take place later in the year, the team would look forward to setting things right and making a comeback way earlier in the roadmap. As things stand, let us take a look at a few Twitter reactions to Ravichandran Ashwin’s statement:
