Barbados Royals and Guyana Amazon Warriors locked horns in the last group match of the Caribbean Premier League. GAW skipper Shimron Hetmyer won the toss and asked Barbados to bat first at the Providence stadium in Guyana. The bowlers of Guyana were very effective except for the 25-year-old pace all-rounder Odean Smith. He conceded 42 runs in his quota of four overs and could scalp only two wickets.

Other than the poor performance, a video of Odean Smith from the match has gone viral over social media. In this video, he can be seen kicking the ball hit by Barbados’ batter and this kick cost two runs for his team in the low-scoring encounter ahead of the playoffs.

Speaking of the match, then the Barbados Royals could score only 125 runs in 17.3 overs. Senior all-rounder and former national skipper Jason Holder ended up as the highest run-scorer for the team. He played a knock of 42 runs off 39 balls with a boundary and three sixes to his name.

Romario Shepherd impressed everyone with his amazing performance as he scalped three wickets by conceding just 14 runs in three overs. Other than him, Keemo Paul and Odean Smith also scalped two wickets each. Shakib Al Hasan and Imran Tahir also claimed one wicket each for Guyana.

While chasing the target, GAW crossed the line in 14.3 overs with a brilliant 53-run knock in just 30 balls with five boundaries and three sixes on his account. Guyana scored 126 runs for the loss of five wickets to win the match by five wickets ending their group stage campaign on a winning note.

Senior all-rounder and Bangladeshi skipper won the award of player of the match for his all-round and match-winning performance for GAW. Obed McCoy scalped two wickets for Barbados by conceding 22 runs in 3.3 overs.
