Rajagopal Sathish, who happens to be a former cricketer, recently went on to make a shocking revelation. He alleged that he was offered Rs 40 lakh for match-fixing. Thus, a complaint has been filed in Bengaluru Police Station for the same. The former all-rounder revealed that INR 40 Lakhs were offered to him for fixing matches. Alongside informing the police, Sathish also informed the BCCI, and cricket's governing body about this.
“The player approached us and ICC, and informed us that someone had approached him on Instagram. We took details of the case and told our ACU officer to file a police complaint in the matter. We are just a facilitator and now police will look into the case,” said Khandwawala, the chief of the Anti-Corruption and Security Unit (ACSU) of the BCCI as quoted by Indian Express.
According to the police complaint, a person named Bunty Anand had approached Sathish via Instagram and offered him INR 40 Lakhs. He apparently said that two other players had agreed to this offer. However, the 41-year-old rejected the offer.
“On January 3, a person named Bunny Anand contacted Sathish on Instagram and messaged him luring to pay Rs 40 lakh and told that two players have already agreed to the offer. Sathish said that he said ‘sorry’ to the offer,” the complaint read. A police officer also said they feel that the offer was made to fix matches in TNPL.
It is to be noted that Sathish has played 34 games in the Indian T20 league. He has represented three teams, namely Mumbai, Kolkata and Punjab. He last featured in an ITL game against Hyderabad, way back in 2016. With 270 runs in 25 innings, his batting average and strikerate are 15.88 and 116.88 respectively.
