Ever since the news of a rift between Babar Azam and Pakistan Cricket Board over the selection of players was out, former cricketers have lashed out at the PCB for not having Babar’s opinion in team selections. Joining the list is veteran pacer, Shoaib Akhtar, who has requested Babar Azam to stay firm on his stance. Akhtar added that Azam should resign from his post if his demands are not fulfilled or else he’ll become Sarfaraz Ahmed 2.0.
“We are hearing that Babar Azam is calling
“If Babar Azam is so hurt and wants to become a brand, then he should resign right now and send a message that this can’t happen again. If he doesn’t do this, then he will become Sarfaraz part two,” Akhtar was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan on PTV Sports.
Earlier, Inzamam ul Haq also lashed out at the PCB for ignoring Babar’s suggestions.
“Now, where are those statements of Mohammad Wasim and the policies of the board saying that the captain will have the full authority and will have the main role in the selection?” Inzamam said on his YouTube channel.
A senior journalist of Pakistan broke the news in a series of tweets. He revealed that Babar Azam doesn’t want to be a dummy skipper and wants Pakistan Cricket Board to have his opinion in team selections. He added that Azam has made it clear to the chief selector that he shouldn't be held accountable if Pakistan doesn't perform well in South Africa.
