Indian all-rounder Shivam Dube has revealed the constant backing he has been receiving from the Indian support staff, including the head coach Gautam Gambhir and the bowling coach Morne Morkel to improve his bowling in the shortest format of the game.
Interestingly, Dube had put up an all-round effort in the fourth T20I against Australia at the Carrara Oval in Queensland as India took a 2-1 lead in the five-match T20I series. While he scored a 22-run knock, batting at No.3. He scalped two important wickets with the ball in hand in the second innings.
Speaking at the post-match press conference, Dube has disclosed the constant backing from the skipper, and coaches on how to use the conditions and bowl according to the plan. He also went on to reveal Gambhir’s piece of advice, which boosted his confidence on the bowling front.
“When I got the opportunity in T20Is, I knew I had to bowl. I am getting a lot of support. Morne (Morkel), Gauti (Gambhir) bhai and Surya made a solid plan for me - as to how to use conditions and bowl accordingly,” Dube said in the post-match press conference at the Carrara Oval.
“Gautam Gambhir has been backing me a lot. ‘Bindaas bowling daal. We are here for you. Even if you go for runs, you have to express yourself.’ There was a plan today. I was able to execute it,” he added.
“I was trying a lot to improve my bowling, but it was not happening. Since I started working with Morne Morkel, I am able to focus on those small things that have helped me improve,” he concluded.
Team India will next lock horns with Australia in the fifth and final T20I of the five-match series at The Gabba in Brisbane on Saturday, November 8.
