“Whenever you play for your country…” - Shivam Dube reveals Gautam Gambhir’s message ahead of Asia Cup 2025

India, led by Suryakumar Yadav, has begun their preparations for the forthcoming Asia Cup 2025 campaign. Notably, the head coach Gautam Gambhir could be seen delivering an intense and inspirational message to the squad ahead of the showpiece event in the United Arab Emirates.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) took to social media platforms to post a video of Team India’s preparations. All-rounder Shivam Dube, who was also part of the Asia Cup squad, has revealed that Gambhir shared a motivational message with the entire squad.

“Whenever you play for your country, you have the opportunity to do something new. So it was about making use of that training and trying to become a better cricketer,” Dube revealed Gambhi’s message in a video posted by the BCCI.

It’s worth noting that Team India will see the return of Shubman Gill as the new vice-captain of the Indian T20I team. Gill is expected to replace Sanju Samson in the playing XI in the top order and open the innings alongside Abhishek Sharma.

“Very excited obviously. I think it’s a great group and the way we’ve been playing T20s has been nothing short of entertaining. So excited to join the group,” Gill said.

Team India will start their campaign against the United Arab Emirates on Wednesday, September 10. Later, they will lock horns with Pakistan on Sunday, September 14. Their last group stage will be against Oman on Friday, September 19.
