Shardul Thakur smashes 52 ball 92 for Mumbai in the VHT

Displaying his class with the bat, Shardul Thakur smashed six 6’s and as many fours in a brutal 57 ball 92 for Mumbai against Himachal Pradesh in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Coming out to bat at 7, the all rounder joined Aditya Tare(83 off 98), stitching a vital 6th wicket partnership of 112 runs. Mumbai were reeling at 148-5 when Shardul stepped out to bat. Along with Thakur, Suryakumar Yadav also stroked a classy 91 off 75 deliveries.

Earlier, in the fourth Test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy at Brisbane, Shardul stroked a top class 67 in the first inning. India were tottering at 186-6 when Shardul joined  Washington Sunder(62), bailing India out of trouble and taking them close to Australia’s 1st inning total. Shardul also picked 7 wickets in the match, paving way for an emphatic victory. Shardul has been named in the Indian squad for the T20 series against England and will join the squad in Ahmedabad soon.

Talking about the match, Mumbai posted 321-9 in their 50 overs and then bowled out Himachal Pradesh for 121 in a mammoth 200 run win. Shardul Thakur failed to pick up a wicket and returned with figures of 0-16 in four overs. Prashant Solanki and Shams Mulani were the pick of the bowlers and accounted for 4 and 3 wickets respectively. Dhawal Kulkarni also returned with 2 wickets in his 4 overs
