According to a report by Daily mail, Warne was on a 14-day 'extreme' liquid diet in order to lose weight. Previously, Warne had mentioned that he tried 'traditional Chinese medicine' to thin up. Recently, his close associate Tom Holl, who was with him in Thailand, had disclosed that Warne ate a wolfing down Vegemite toast as his last meal as a part of his diet.

Although there hasn't been anything official about the legend's diet being the cause for his heart attack, Heart Foundation's chief medical advisor Professor Garry Jennings said that a diet might have impacted his heart. He said that a low-calorie diet could have put extra strain on his heart. However, he stated that heart problems don't come out of the blue.

"Mostly, these risks are on top of an underlying heart problem, they don't come out of the blue. I doubt they could cause a heart problem just by themselves. Basically, if your metabolism, your handling of fluids, salt and other electrolytes gets completely out of whack, if you have a small heart attack, you're more likely for that to turn into something serious with a rhythm disorder," said professor Garry Jennings.

In the meanwhile, Warne's manager James Erskine confirmed that the legendary spinner was indeed on a diet. He went on to draw light on the food he ate.

"It was a bit all or nothing. It was either white buns with butter and lasagne stuffed in the middle, or he would be having black and green juices. He obviously smoked most of his life I don't know, I think it was just a massive heart attack. That's what I think has happened," said James Erskine.
