Mohammedan Sporting Club captain Shakib Al Hasan has been suspended for three Dhaka Premier League matches for his unprofessional behaviour. After being denied an LBW appeal against Mushfiqur Rahim, Shakib lost his temper and kicked the stumps in frustration. Moments later, he uprooted the stumps in anger after the umpires called for covers as the rain picked up. He also got into a scuffle with Abahani Limited coach and BCB director Khaled Mahmud.

Even though the all rounder issued a public apology for his on-field outburst, fans and experts were of the opinion that BCB should take a strong action against Shakib for degrading the gentlemen's game.

“I apologise to the teams, management, tournament officials and organizing committee for this human error. Hopefully, I won’t be repeating this again in future. Thanks and love you all,” part of Shakib’s statement on Facebook read.

A report in ESPN cricinfo confirmed Shakib's ban. The report stated that the umpires were asked to submit a report regarding the incident after which the Cricket Committee of Dhaka Metropolis (CCDM) finalised the all-rounder’s punishment. Along with the ban, Shakib has been fined 5 lakh BDT.

Going by the laws , Shakib was accused of violating two sections of level three. Despite being the best cricketer from the country, Shakib has time and time again found himself into controversy. The all rounder was banned in 2019 for not reporting a corruption approach by the bookies.
