The official Twitter handle of the Bangla Tigers, the team for which Shahid Afridi was due to play, confirmed that the veteran has pulled out of the tournament owing to personal reasons. “Shahid Afridi will be unable to feature for Bangla Tigers in the 5th season of T10 League due to his commitment to the Shahid Afridi Foundation,” Bangla Tigers announced on Twitter.

The franchise said they back Afridi's decision and wished him luck for the future endeavors. “We fully respect his decision and wish the legendary all-rounder all the best for his future endeavors,” Tigers wrote.

Despite Afridi not being available, Bangla Tigers are one of the stronger teams in the tournament, with players like Faf du Plessis, James Faulkner, Johnson Charles, Andre Fletcher, Qais Ahmed among others at disposal. Speaking about Afridi, the veteran played for Qalandars in the last season. Afridi played 5 games in the season and picked up 3 wickets at an average of 24.
