Shahid Afridi makes bold statement against India

The legendary Pakistan cricketer Shahid Afridi has asked for support from celebrities against Indian foul response sent his way.

Shahid Afridi's playing days are long gone but he still stays in the limelight due to his strong views on the Kashmir issue. He is one of the few cricketers from Pakistan who talks about this issue every time. Recently in a statement regarding the same, he said that he cannot stop speaking against the issue. He also asked other Pakistani celebrities to come in his defence from a huge number of Indians who attack him with foul language.

Shahid Afridi is one of Pakistan's most famous cricketers. Known for his hard-hitting batting the right-handed cricketer played 398 ODI matches making 8064 runs in total. His 117.01 strike rate, in particular, gave all the popularity and was instrumental in Pakistan's many ODI wins. Coming to the team as a 16-year-old, the Khyber-born player took the world by storm. The 42-year-old was known as a T20 player before the advent of the shortest format.

Known for his aggression on the field, the Pakistan player also keeps the attitude a similar attitude. Speaking about the Kashmir issue, he was quoted by Arfa Feroz Zake, a Pakistani journalist for Geo News Urdu on Twitter, "I can't stop myself to speak against injustice. For example, whenever I tweet for the rights of Kashmiris, huge number of Indians use foul language in response but what disappoints me the most is no other fellow Pakistani celebrity comes to defend me at that moment."

Pakistan, whom Shahid Afridi once played for, are currently hosting West Indies in a limited-overs series consisting of three T20Is and three ODIs. Pakistan were able to clean sweep the men in maroon in the T20Is with 63 runs, 9 runs and 7 wickets respectively. Additionally, they have also won their first two ODIs with a margin of five wickets and a huge 120 runs respectively. Thus, it will be exciting to see if they manage to win the third one-dayer as well.
