Russell has been an integral part of this franchise since 2013. He has also won the IPL in 2014 with KKR. However, in recent years, his relationship with the West Indies Cricket Board has been very dismal. Now, ahead of the GT clash, he came up with a bold statement as Andre Russell said: "KKR has done things for me which even my country hasn't done".

Andre Russell last played for West Indies in 2021

This star Caribbean all-rounder is known as a devastating player in the shortest format of the game. His stats and records speak the volume across all franchise leagues all around the globe. But, Andre Russell last played for West Indies in 2021. He has won two 20-20 World Cup Titles with West Indies in 2012 and 2016 respectively. After that, he has not received any international call-up. The former West Indies coach, Phil Simmons also shared their disappointment to see such a player missing actions for the country.

Simmons said: "It hurts. There's no other way to put it. But what can you do? I don't think that I should be begging people to play for their countries. I think if you want to represent West Indies, you will make yourself available." In reply to that, Russell came up with a cryptic Instagram post and it was written: “I know this was coming but am gonna stay quiet!!!" Now, during the IPL 2023, such a comment to praise his franchise over West Indies left fans surprised. However, some fans also claimed that Russell has not done enough for his country also.
