Lucknow have won their first game of the Indian T20 league as they beat Chennai. This season has seen a lot of high-scoring games, with this one being one of the most entertaining among them. The defending champions now have to do a lot of work if they are to bounce back in this edition.

After being asked to go bat first, Chennai were aggressive right from the first ball. It is to be noted that they had a new opening pair, i.e. Robin Uthappa and Ruturaj Gaikwad. The Orange Cap winner of the previous edition was run out after scoring just one run.

This didn't stop Uthappa from playing the big shots. He and Moeen Ali ensured that the yellow army get to 73 runs in the first six overs. The 36-year-old was dismissed after scoring a quick 50 off just 27 deliveries.

After which, The rest of the batters continued to score at a quick rate as the likes of Ali and Shivam Dube took Lucknow's bowlers to the cleaners. Although Dube was unlucky to miss his fifty, he did all the damage before being dismissed for 49. Chennai managed to get a whopping score of 210.

During the second innings, Lucknow's openers took a couple of overs to settle before getting set. Post which, KL Rahul and Quinton de Kock scored 55 runs in the first six overs. Lucknow's skipper was dismissed after scoring 40 off 26 calls. De Kock got to his first fifty of the tournament before Dwaine Pretorius dismissed him in the 14th over.

Evin Lewis played a sensational knock of 55 from just 23 balls, and saw his side home. Towards the end, a miscalculation by Jadeja saw Dube ball the 19th over. He was hit for 26 runs and that sealed the deal for Lucknow. This enabled them to create history as they beat Chennai with three balls to spare. Fans were quick to react as they instantly took to Twitter to speak about today's game. Several people spoke about how this high-scoring thriller saw several batters hit sixes for fun.
