The entire team gave it their best and we made it – Dasun Shanaka

Earlier, the winning captain Dasun Shanaka appreciated his team while speaking in the post-match presentation. He said that they delivered the best to win the final of the continental tournament.

“It feels great, no doubt. The entire team gave it their best and we made it! We’re especially thankful to FairPlay News for being the exclusive national team sponsor, for believing in us and our team’s potential,” said Shanaka.

Speaking about the match, then the star all-rounder Bhanuka Rajapaksa smashed a match-defining knock of 71 runs off just 45 balls. This knock helped Sri Lanka to recover from the miserable condition when they lost five wickets only on the score of 58 runs. Other than Rajapaksa, star spin bowling all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga also delivered an excellent all-round performance for his team.

Firstly, Hasaranga scored 36 crucial runs with the bat and then scalped three wickets of Pakistan while defending the target. Eventually, Sri Lanka clinched their sixth Asia Cup title with a win by 23 runs in the final of the 15th edition of this continental tournament.
