Kochi Blue Tigers batter Sanju Samson caught the limelight yet again in the ongoing Kerala Cricket League with his remarkable batting display, accumulating 285 runs at an average of 71.25 and a strike rate of 182.69.
Notably, he is currently the second-leading run-scorer of the ongoing KCL 2025 season. Interestingly, Samson has already scored 21 sixes in four matches - The most by any batter so far. Moreover, the Kerala batter has also racked up 22 fours in four innings.
Against the Adani Trivandrum Royals, KBT opening batter Samson scored a 37-ball 62-run knock with four fours and five sixes at a strike rate of 167.57 as Kochi Blue Tigers secured a nine-run win.
Before that, he smacked an 89-run knock from 46 balls against Thrissur Titans with nine sixes. Notably, his best knock in the ongoing season came against Kollam Sailors, when he scored 121 runs.
However, the former middle-order batter Ajinkya Rahane felt that Samson might not make it to the Indian playing XI in the forthcoming Asia Cup 2025 campaign, as Shubman Gill has made his comeback as the vice-captain.
“Shubman is back in the team, I’m sure he is most likely to open with Abhishek Sharma. Personally, I would like to see Sanju Samson in the team because he has done really well. He is a very confident guy, a very good team man, and that is very important," Rahane said on his YouTube channel.
