Sania Mirza’s father breaks silence after Shoaib Malik’s third marriage

Former Pakistan skipper Shoaib Malik married actress Sana Javed and the news was confirmed on Saturday. This marked an end to nearly 13 years of marriage between the former Indian tennis stalwart and Pakistan cricket captain.

Sania Mirza’s father Imran Mirza addressed the media and issued a brief statement. “It was a khula,” revealed Imran Mirza after his daughter’s marriage ended. The 37-year-old Hyderabadi is currently commentating on the ongoing Australian Open 2024 tournament.

For the past few years, there have been constant rumours of trouble between Shoaib Malik and Sania Mirza. There have been cryptic posts from the former Indian star. On Saturday the world woke up to the news of Shoaib Malik marrying for the third time.

Former Pakistan skipper Shoaib Malik married then-Indian star Sania Mirza in 2010. The ceremony took place in Hyderabad and the two soon shifted to UAE. After setting up their base in Dubai, the two would be seen with each other at various events. 



Sania Mirza continued her tennis career where she attained amazing success. Due to injuries, the Hyderabadi had to shift her focus to doubles. Teaming with Martina Hingis the Indo-Swiss Pair soon found success and won many Grand Slam titles. 



Shoaib Malik meanwhile, is still playing cricket and will turn 42 in a few days. The right-handed batter is yet to call time on his career and recently played in the National T20 tournament for Sialkot. 

The veteran player is aiming for one final glory with Pakistan during the 2024 T20 World Cup. The batting form of Shoaib Malik saw him score a few half-centuries as well as picking a few wickets with the ball. 

It has come to light that the two aren’t on speaking terms and have unfollowed each other on social media. Last year, Sania Mirza had put out an Instagram Post that spoke about potential trouble in paradise. 

Sana Javed is known to be an actress in the Pakistani industry and her marriage had fallen apart last year. The former Pakistan skipper had on many occasions voiced his support for Sana Javed on social media. 

After the news of the marriage went viral one of Shoaib Malik’s old tweets went viral. “I Have known Sana Javed for quite some time now and have had the opportunity to work with her multiple times, from my personal experience, I can only say that she has always been kind and courteous towards me and the people around us,” he said.
