Virat Kohli had a bitter outing in the World Test Championship (WTC) final against Australia at the Oval. He went to that game after having a good IPL 2023 for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). But, ha failed to live the expectations of fans by not scoring big runs in both innings of the ultimate Test.

However, other Team India batters also failed to score significantly. Hence, the Men in Blue lost the final by a huge margin of 209 runs. India’s next assignment is a full-fledged tour of the West Indies from July to August. Kohli is expected to be in the squad. But, now, he shared a cryptic motivational quote on his Instagram story.

Here is the shared image of that Instagram story:

“It was a bad shot. It was an ordinary shot.” - Sunil Gavaskar on Kohli’s dismissal in the second innings of the WTC final

In that post, it was written: “The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.” Seeing such a post, fans shared their views on social media. Speaking about Kohli, after having a good start in both innings, he failed to convert those. In the first innings, Kohli was left surprised by a sudden bouncer from Mitchell Starc as the ball bounced more than his anticipation. But, in the second innings, he scored 49 runs and fell in the trap of that off-stump corridor while going for a drive. He nicked the ball and Steve Smith completed a fantastic catch to dismiss him.

However, the selection of that shot on that delivery and in the context of the game left Sunil Gavaskar unhappy. While speaking to Star Sports, he said: “It was a bad shot. It was an ordinary shot. You are asking me how he did that – but you should ask Kohli what shot he played. That was a shot outside the off stump. We talk so much about the fact that when you are going to win a match, you need a long innings, a century-plus innings. How are you going to get a century-plus innings, when you play a shot that is so far outside the off stump? He was batting on 49, and nearing a landmark. I don’t think Virat Kohli would have played that shot if he wasn’t near a personal landmark.”
