A shocking decision where the third umpire ruled Devdutt Padikkal not out despite the ultra edge showing a clear spike has left the fans baffled. The incident took place in the eighth over the RCB inning. Padikkal tried to reverse sweep a delivery of Ravi Bishnoi. He failed to connect with the shot and the ball was caught by KL Rahul.

Both Rahul and Bishnoi were confident that the ball has kissed the glove and decided to challenge the on-field call. Replays showed that there was a clear spike as the ball went past the glove of Padikkal. However, the third umpire decided to stick with the on-field call on account of no clear evidence to turn the decision.

The decision to rule Padikkal not out didn’t go well with KL Rahul who had a long chat with the onfield umpire. Meanwhile, fans and experts were also upset by the decision and lashed out at the third umpire on social media.

Earlier Virat Kohli had won the toss and opted to bat. Kohli along with Devdutt Padikkal got RCB off to a solid start and added 68 runs for the first wicket before Kohli departed for 25. RCB promoted Daniel Christian to No 3 but the move didn’t work as the all-rounder was dismissed for a first-ball duck.

A fiery knock of 57 from Glenn Maxwell helped RCB post a competitive 164. In reply, KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal have got PBKS off to a blazing start. PBKS are 46-0 in 5.1 overs at the time of writing. The team needs a win to stay in contention for the playoffs.
