Mumbai Indians (MI) will be in action on 26 May 2023 when they will take on Gujarat Titans (GT) in the qualifier two of the ongoing IPL. GT suffered a loss in qualifier one while MI won the eliminator clash against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). Akash Madhwal was the player of the match for his impressive bowling performance against LSG.

After a poor start to this season, MI managed to regain their form as the tournament progresses under the leadership of Rohit Sharma. Now, regarding his captaincy abilities, the former Team India cricketer, Sunil Gavaskar came up with a bold statement by claiming Rohit as an underrated skipper.

“He is underrated. The man has won five titles for Mumbai Indians." - Sunil Gavaskar on Rohit Sharma

While speaking to India Today, Gavaskar said: "If that had been CSK and Dhoni was the captain. Everybody would have said 'Dhoni plotted Nicholas Pooran's dismissal. This is what happens to a great extend. There is also a little bit of hype, things sometimes work out. Of course, he is underrated. The man has won five titles for Mumbai Indians." He wanted to say that it was Rohit’s masterplan to dismiss both Ayush Badoni and Nicholas Pooran on the same over by changing the direction of bowlers.

If the same thing would have happened for CSK, then people would have given the whole credit to MS Dhoni. But, in the case of Rohit, the same thing not happened. After the victory over LSG, Rohit said: "I had definitely thought of making it ... We managed our work, and scrambled through it. Akash Madhwal was part of the season last year. He didn't get to play. We knew what he had, and we needed somebody to bowl at the back end. Having seen him, I was confident he could get the job done for us. As a team, we enjoyed the fielding. We want to keep getting better, and throw ourselves... We knew coming to Chennai, one man won't take us through."
