On 13 September 2023, the third match of the four-match ODI series between England and New Zealand took place at The Oval. Both teams won a game each in the last two outings. So, they were looking for a win to strengthen their chances to win the series. Speaking of the match, the Kiwi skipper, Tom Latham won the toss and opted to bowl first.

Jonny Bairstow and Dawid Malan came out as openers. But, Trent Boult struck early as he sent Bairstow back to the dressing room on a golden duck. Then, Joe Root also got out to him on four runs. Then, their star all-rounder, Ben Stokes came out to bat at the number four position to support Malan in the middle.

Then, Stokes looked in sublime touch and first, notched up his fifty from 44 balls. Then, he stitched a 199-run partnership for the third wicket with Malan. Malan got out on 96 runs off 95 balls. But, Stokes continued his shots and scored his fourth ODI ton off just 76 balls. For the fourth wicket, he and Jos Buttler put up a 78-run partnership. Buttler got out on 38 runs. Seeing such a knock, fans went crazy and lauded him on social media.

After that, Stokes continued to smack all the bowlers all around the park and reached the 150-run mark off 106 balls. Ultimately, he got out on 182 runs off 124 balls, including 15 fours and nine sixes. Since Stoke’s return from retirement in ODIs, he has now two fifty-plus scores to his name. In the first match of the series, he scored 52 runs but in the second game, he got out on just one run. Finally, England got bundled out for 368 runs for wickets in 48.1 overs. For New Zealand, Boult took five wickets while Ben Lister grabbed three wickets. Lockie Ferguson and Glenn Phillips took one wicket each.
