Umesh Yadav was given a chance in the coveted World Test Championship (WTC) Final 2021-23 against Australia at the Oval, London. However, the pacer failed to impress and as a result was left out of the Test squad for the upcoming multi-format tour of the West Indies and the USA. The tour includes two Tests, three ODIs, and five T20Is, a few of which will take place in Florida, USA. Umesh Yadav, however, finds no place in any of the announced squads for the tour. Notably, the two Tests will also be India’s first chance to get going in the WTC 2023-25 cycle. The tour kicks off on July 12 with the first Test to be played at Windsor Park Dominica.
On the contrary, Umesh Yadav was spotted with his wife Tanya Wadhwa in the holy Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain. Umesh was seen wearing a traditional dhoti while his wife Tanya wore a saree as they bowed their heads in one of the most revered Hindu Temples in the country. Notably, cricketers visiting Mahakaleshwar is not a new phenomenon. A host of cricketers including Virat Kohli and KL Rahul had earlier visited the holy temple. Moreover, Suryakumar Yadav also spoke about how he prayed for a speedy recovery for his compatriot Rishabh Pant at the temple.
Umesh Yadav also visited Mahakaleshwar Temple back in March 2023
Interestingly, this is not the first time for Umesh Yadav in Mahakaleshwar. Earlier in March, the cricketer visited the temple in Madhya Pradesh and also attended the ‘Bhasma Aarti.’ The Brahma Muhurta, which lasts from 4 to 5:30 in the morning, is when this place performs the famed ceremony known as bhasma aarti (offering with ashes).
He entered the temple's sanctum sanctorum after the Bhasma Aarti and conducted Jalabhishek there. Speaking about his visit, Umesh Yadav said, "Today, I have reached here to worship Baba Mahakal. I prayed that everyone's wishes and desires be fulfilled. There should be peace and happiness in the world." However, he was not seen with his wife while his visit to the temple back in March.
