The third edition of the SA20 league is set to kick off on 9 January 2025 and will run until 8 February. Sunrisers Eastern Cape (SEC), the reigning champions from the previous two seasons, will aim for a historic hat trick of titles.

Six teams—SEC, MI Cape Town (MICT), Durban’s Super Giants (DSG), Joburg Super Kings (JSK), Pretoria Capitals (PC), and Paarl Royals (PR)—will compete across six iconic venues, with a total of 34 matches scheduled for the tournament.
SEC will begin their title defense against MI Cape Town on the opening day at St George’s Park. The group stage, featuring 30 matches, will run until 2 February across various venues. Following that, one eliminator and two qualifiers will be played, with the eliminator set for Centurion and the qualifiers at Centurion and St George’s Park.
The grand final is scheduled for 8 February at the Wanderers, with 9 February designated as a reserve day in case of disruptions.
As in previous editions, the same format will be followed this season. The SA20 league promises a vibrant atmosphere with lively crowds and increased international participation. It has become a valuable platform for emerging players to showcase their talent and prepare for international cricket.
All six teams are owned by Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises, which has significantly boosted the league's popularity in India. This connection has helped the SA20 league attract a wider fanbase and elevate its global profile.
Former Team India wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik will be in action for the Paarl Royals in the upcoming SA20 season. As one of their star overseas players, Karthik also holds the distinction of being this league's India Ambassador. Notably, he is the first Indian player to participate in the SA20 franchise competition.
When and where to watch SA20 2025 in India?
Night matches in the SA20 league are scheduled to begin at 9:00 PM IST, while day games will start at 4:30 PM IST. On double-header days, the first match will kick off at 4:30 PM, followed by the second game at 9:00 PM.
