Before the IPL 2026 auction, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) are reportedly in serious talks over a possible deal that may see Sanju Samson go to the Tamil Nadu-based team and Ravindra Jadeja go to the Jaipur-based team.

Samson and Jadeja both fetch a price of ₹18 crore, according to a Cricbuzz report, indicating that the deal may already be nearing conclusion. However, it is said that RR is opposed to a straight swap and is requesting the addition of a player, which is an area of contention in the current talks.

Additionally, RR management is reportedly keeping lines of contact open with other teams, such as the Sunrisers Hyderabad, Delhi Capitals, Kolkata Knight Riders, and Lucknow Super Giants.

RR’s demand for Sam Curran’s inclusion a possible dealbreaker for CSK

According to reports, the primary obstacle to the CSK-RR transfer is RR's insistence on include England all-rounder Sam Curran..

The talks are apparently being led by Manoj Badale, the Rajasthan Royals' UK-based main owner, who is presently in Mumbai. But CSK is adamant about not including Brevis or any other player in the deal package.

The team feels that cutting ties with Jadeja, one of the best all-rounders in contemporary cricket, is already a big step. It is also understood that CSK consulted Jadeja prior to the start of trade negotiations, and RR is currently in charge of making the final decision.

Meanwhile, the Sunrisers Hyderabad are reportedly hesitant in signing Sanju Samson because they already have three established top-order players in Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma, and Ishan Kishan. Contrary to previous conjecture, franchise sources have emphasized that they have no plans to release Ishan or Heinrich Klaasen.
