Indian team has won two consecutive T20I series on their home soil against Australia and South Africa. Notably, the men in blue are gearing up their preparations for the upcoming 20-20 World Cup 2022. But just a few weeks before the World Cup, the Indian camp faced a major blow as the senior pacer Jasprit Bumrah has been ruled out of the tournament due to a back injury.
The Indian cricket board is yet to confirm any replacement for Bumrah in the Indian squad for the marquee tournament. Although, skipper Rohit Sharma has come up with an update on this concern just after the final T20I of the recently-concluded series against South Africa in Indore.
We'll find it out there - Rohit Sharma on Jasprit Bumrah
Indian team is suffering a lack in the bowling attack in the absence of the ace speedster. The 28-year-old sustained an injury in the back due to which he was also ruled out of the recently-concluded three-match T20I series against South Africa. Later on, the Hyderabad pacer Mohammed Siraj replaced Bumrah on the national side of India for the T20Is.
Talking about the impact of Bumrah’s absence, then the Indian bowlers performed very well only in the first T20I of the series. But since then, they’ve failed to translate the same performance on the ground with the ball and conceded more than 200 runs in the second and third T20I respectively.
Apart from the confirmation from the Indian cricket board, skipper Rohit Sharma has recently come up with a new update while talking about the replacement for Jasprit Bumrah.
"Bumrah is out of the World Cup, so we need to find a bowler who has the experience of bowling in Australia. Not sure who that bowler is going to be, we will see once we travel to Australia, we'll find it out there," said Rohit Sharma in the post-match presentation after the third T20I.
