The table has been turned completely to a different level following the embarrassing defeat against England in the second semi-final of the 20-20 World Cup 2022. Notably, skipper Rohit Sharma is also under fire following the disheartening defeat of the Indian team. Under his captaincy, the men in blue lost by a massive margin of 10 wickets against the three lions in the all-important knockout clash of the 20-20 World Cup in Adelaide.

Subsequently, the Board has posted the requirements and job roles for the new selectors, and it has fuelled the rumors that the authorities are set to sack the current skipper Rohit Sharma from the role of captaincy throughout the formats of the game.

Here’s how fans reacted:

Currently, the Indian team is in action in the second of the three-match T20I series against New Zealand. Star all-rounder Hardik Pandya is leading the men in blue in the absence of Rohit Sharma.

Speaking of the ongoing second T20I of the three-match series, India has scored 86 runs for the loss of two wickets in 11.1 overs. World number one T20I batter Suryakumar Yadav is there in the middle on 28 runs off 17 balls with 3 boundaries and a six to his name. Shreyas Iyer has recently joined the former and is playing on the individual score of 6 runs off 6 balls with a boundary.

Following the conclusion of this T20I series, the Indians will go ahead in the three-match ODI series against the same opponents. The Board has named the senior southpaw Shikhar Dhawan as the stand-in skipper of the Indian team. The team is touring New Zealand without having senior players including the likes of Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, and skipper Rohit Sharma himself.
