The Indian fans were dealt with a sad news of Lata Mangeshkar's demise today. The veteran Indian singer passed away at the age of 92. Lata ji was in a critical condition after being diagnosed with COVID-19 last month. She was being treated at the Breach Candy Hospital. Unfortunately, she could not survive the deadly virus and succumbed to several health complications.

Lata Mangeshkar was one of the biggest fans of Indian cricket. She was always in praise of the Indian team. She shared a good bond with several Indian cricketers like Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli. Naturally, the news of her demise left the cricketers stunned.

The Indian team is playing their historic 1000th ODI today, against West Indies. The players paid a special tribute to Lata Mangeshkar and wore black armbands to mourn the demise of the Indian icon.

Lata Mangeshkar served India in many ways. She was an icon of the country and won many awards, including the Dada Saheb Phalke award in 1989 and Bharat Ratna in 2001. She also won three National Film Awards, 15 Bengal Film Journalists’ Association Awards, four Filmfare Best Female Playback Awards, two Filmfare Special Awards, Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award. She had a career that lasted over seven decades.

Meanwhile, India won the toss and put West Indies in to bat in the first ODI. Mohammed Siraj gave India their first breakthrough as he shattered the stumps of Shai Hope. West Indies are 39-1 at the time of writing.
