In major developments, Chennai's 14 crores buy, Deepak Chahar is set to miss out a majority of the Indian T20 League, if not the entire tournament. This is a major setback for the Chennai team as they relied heavily on the team.

Deepak Chahar suffered a quadricep tear in the third T20 against Wes indies. He looked in a great deal of pain as he hobbled before being escorted out of the field. It has been learned that the pacer will need a few weeks to heal and be able to play. This means that he will miss out on the initial stage of the ITL, scheduled to start on the 26th of March.

As reported by ESPNcricinfo, Chahar is currently in rehab at the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore. The Chennai team is still awaiting confirmation from the academy. They would hope that Chahar is available to them at the earliest. He gets them a good number of wickets in the powerplays which builds a lot of pressure on the opposition.

Deepak Chahar was the second-costliest buy in the mega auction this year, and deservingly so. This was the first time ever that Chennai paid more than 10 crores for a player in the auction. He is not just a fast bowler who gets wickets in the powerplay, but also a batter. He has developed a lot as a batter and has the figures to prove that. Chahar has had a couple of international half-centuries in the recent games.

Chennai will struggle to find a correct replacement for him within their squad. He is one of the few Indian fast bowlers that the franchise has. They do have a few other options but they lack experience.
