The squad for the final 3 games of the Test series vs England has already been announced with the series at 1-1. The first two Test matches have already made this series interesting for the fans with two matches that have gone on for 4 innings. It was England who came out on top early in the series, but the Indians had shown in the second game that they could still dominate at home. The 3rd Test match will be played in Rajkot in the Saurashtra Cricket Association(SCA) stadium. It will be interesting to see which team will finally come on top in the next three Tests with both sides in really interesting positions.
The Indian squad has undergone a few changes in the squad after the 2nd Test match at Visakhapatnam. It is already tough for people to live with the fact that Virat Kohli will not feature in the series at all due to some personal reasons which has led to Rajat Patidar and Sarfaraz Khan to still be part of the squad. The injury to Shreyas Iyer might also allow another young player in the squad as well. Rohit Sharma and co will need to think a lot about who is going to feature in the playing eleven for the upcoming Test match.
Dhruv Jurel's debut in question
23-year-old wicketkeeper batter Dhruv Jurel was also named in the squad after his great performances in domestic cricket. Jurel first came into consideration after his impressive performance in the last season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), where he was one of the best impact players for the Rajasthan Royals. Jurel has brought the same form into first-class cricket as well. The young batter has scored 790 runs in 15 games at an average of 46.47. This could be enough to replace him with the likes of KS Bharat, who has not been at his best in the series which is filled with thrown-away starts and low scores.
The reports are suggesting that this change is possible and it won’t be a big surprise with Bharat failing to rise on the occasion. This will also be a big challenge and opportunity for Jurel who will be making his debut against one of the best Test teams in the world right now. He is still a talented player who is capable of counter-attacking the bowlers at the lower middle order. We have no confirmation yet that he will be playing in the upcoming match, but it will be exciting to see him showcase his talent in a Test match.
