Speaking in the post-day press conference, Jadeja stated that though his selection is not in his hands, he would love to play the forthcoming mega event. Notably, Jadeja wasn’t included for the Australia ODI series, which raised a lot of eyebrows.

“It is not in my hands, but I want to play the 2027 World Cup. However, the team management and the selectors must have some kind of thinking as to why I wasn’t selected for the Australia ODIs,” Jadeja said in the post-day press conference.

“They have indeed spoken to me. It wasn’t like I was surprised once the team was announced. It was good that the captain, the chief selector and the coach spoke to me as to what they are thinking and their reasons. So, I am happy. Whenever I get a chance, I will try to perform,” he added.

With Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, and Kuldeep Yadav already part of the three-match ODI series against Australia Down Under, the chief selector Ajit Agarkar has revealed that they wouldn’t require more spinners on the Australian soil.

"He is very much in the plans. But there will be some competition for places. Of course, he was there in the Champions Trophy squad, because we took those extra spinners with the conditions there. At the moment, we could only carry one and get some balance in the team with Washi and Kuldeep there as well. And I don’t think we are going to need more than that in Australia," Agarkar had said while selecting the ODI squad.

India’s ODI squad vs Australia: Shubman Gill (C), Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer (VC), Axar Patel, KL Rahul (WK), Nitish Kumar Reddy, Washington Sundar, Kuldeep Yadav, Harshit Rana, Mohammed Siraj, Arshdeep Singh, Prasidh Krishna, Dhruv Jurel (WK), Yashasvi Jaiswal.
