Destructive West Indian all-rounder Andre Russell has backed PSL as one of the top leagues in the world. Russell will represent Quetta Gladiators in the Abu Dhabi leg after being picked by the franchise in the replacement draft. Quetta Gladiators had a miserable first half and could only manage a win in their five outings.

In an interview with Geo News, Russell said that PSL is right up there with the best leagues around the world, adding that the league boast of some of the finest cricketing talents.

“I play IPL, I play big bash or Caribbean Premier League. I play in other leagues around the world. And I'm definitely gonna say that PSL . I just think it (quality of cricket and bowling talent) makes the league even tougher. So it's among the top leagues."

Russell's most recent assignment was with Kolkata Knight Riders in the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League. Though the all-rounder didn't have favourable outings, he played a couple of impactful innings and bowled well on occasions.

Despite languishing at the bottom of the points table, Andre Russell believes that Quetta's fortunes can change in the second leg.

"I should contribute in whatever way . I won't get that sweet joy of lifting the cup with them, but I will know why they should bid towards that, And when you get a winning momentum, it is just confidence after confidence and from game to game, you feel untouchable as a team so once you're doing well, you will know what to do to win again," Russell said.

Andre Russell has previously represented Islamabad United and Multan Sultans in the PSL. The PCB is looking to resume the PSL from June 7, with the final being played on June 24. However, their broadcasting crew is yet to receive clearance from the Abu Dhabi government. The Board need to get the required permissions by today if they are to resume the league from June 7.
