What a magnificent turnaround it has been for Multan Sultans who’ve now won four games in a row. They crushed Lahore Qalandars by 80 runs to book their berth in the playoffs. They’ll be up against Islamabad United, an equally impressive team. A win over Islamabad United will be a major boost ahead of the knockouts. However, despite back to back wins, Multan Sultans have plenty of flaws to rectify before the semi-finals. The batting hasn’t clicked together in most of the matches. In the last match, it was the innings of Shoaib Maqsood that bailed them out of early trouble. With Mohammad Rizwan, Shan Masood, Riley Roussow, Johnson Charles, they are well equipped in the batting department. They just need to apply themselves better. Shahnawaz Dhani has been magnificent with the ball. So as Sohail Tanvir, Imran Khan, James Faulkner and Blessing Muzarambani. Overall, they are a team that can give the best teams a run for their money.

Islamabad United probably face their stiffest challenge in the second leg. They are coming off a remarkable win over Peshawar Zalmi in a match that broke all records. Islamabad United had some nervy moments but eventually held their nerves to win the contest. With the likes of Usman Khawaja, Colin Munro, Brandon King, Asif Ali, they have a decent batting lineup while Hasan Ali, Akif Javed, Hussain Talat back them up with quality bowling options. It’s going to be a closely fought affair – no doubt about it. But with momentum on their side, Multan Sultans will fancy their chances more.

Pitch Report

The surface is slightly slow in nature but once you are set, there are plenty of runs for the taking.
