PSL 2025: Who is Quetta Gladiators captain?

The inaugural finals of the Pakistan Super League saw the clash of the Quetta Gladiators and Islamabad United. Backing their performance, they were the runners-up in the next season, making two finals in a row. 2019 finally saw Quetta becoming the champions of the tournament which had been eloping.

Having played three finals in the first four years of the tournament, the Gladiators were surely proving the point that they were one of the most dominating teams in the league. However, the team has dwindled in their performance over the last few years.

After eight seasons in charge, Sarfaraz Ahmed was removed as captain last year, but he remained a wicketkeeper-batter with the team. He was the first captain of the side and it was under him that they saw such highs of the tournament, including the two runners-up as well as one championship. 

He was replaced by Rilee Rossouw as the skipper for the next season. After taking over as captain for PSL 2024, Rilee Rossouw guided the Gladiators to the playoffs for the first time in three years, yet they were unable to make it to the finals.

Even after a good performance, the leadership role is being taken away from the South African batter and there has been a change in the captain of the squad. The left-handed middle-order batter, Saud Shakeel has taken over the reins and would be hoping to take the side to another title victory.

He scored 323 runs in 10 games at a remarkable strike rate of 141.66 at the end of the season, including two half-centuries. He was also listed as the tournament's seventh-highest run scorer. Putting up a great show with the bat ultimately led to the decision to give him leadership roles for the future season.
